My initial
research brought me (somehow) to postmedieval:
a journal of medieval cultural studies. Since its inaugural issue in 2010,
the journal aims to “develop a present-minded medieval studies in which
contemporary events, issues, ideas, problems, objects, and texts serve as
triggers for critical investigations of the Middle Ages.” Each issue has an
area of concentration: 2.2 “The Medievalism of Nostalgia,” 5.2 “Comic Medievalisms,”
et cetera.
I have been
exploring the website and the articles are contemporary, insightful, and (dare I say) rather edgy. I’d definitely
suggest perusing through the website. They have even made some articles available
for PDF download—sayonara, Inter-Library Loans!
The article from
postmedieval that I have been reading
more in-depth is Sarah Kay’s “Legible Skins: Animals and the Ethics of Medieval
Reading” from 2.1 “The Animal Turn.” It is available here for PDF download.
